In Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, Monks Preserve Traditional Khmer Culture and Literature
By Micheal Huff
Once, very far away and very long ago, a powerful king from the West met a wise monk from the East. To test the monk's wisdom, the king posed many difficult questions: Why do good people sometimes suffer while evil people sometimes prosper? How can we know what truth is? How can there be rebirth without an eternal soul ? He asked many such questions. To each, the monk answered with brilliance and serenity. After their talk, the king left his throne and joined the monk in teaching the Middle Way.

Truong Thi May, a true reflection of Khmer spirit
The classic "Vietnamese think Khmer Krom as Khmer, and Cambodian think Khmer Krom as Vietnamese" scenario arose when Truong Thi May became the runner up of the Miss Viet Ethnic 2007. Some Vietnamese newspapers have tried to discredit her by claiming that she's of Kinh's ethic (majority ethnic of Vietnam). Some Khmer on the other hand believe she's a Vietnamese. Khmer Krom have always been facing discrimination by both the Cambodian and the Vietnamese population.

Uniquely Khmer
By Reported by Diem Thu of Thanh Nien Daily
Is Vietnam finally seeing the true colour of the rich and vibrant culture of the Khmers in Kampuchea-Krom? Maybe it's about time Vietnam gives the Khmer Krom people recognition as the indigenous peoples epecially since all temples are living proof of their ancestral and historic roots to the Mekong Delta.
The Mekong Delta is home to an array of distinctive Khmer pagodas off the beaten track.
Item 3: Climate Change, bio-cultural diversity and livelihoods: the stewardship role of indigenous peoples and new challenges
Collective Statement by the Khmers Kampuchea-Krom Federation and the Montagnard Foundation
Speaker: Ricky Tran
Madame Chair,
Land is the soil in which we walk, live and breathe. Having lived on the Mekong Delta region for centuries, our people love harvesting our growing rice fields. We have lived in harmony with our rich land and natural resources. Vietnam armed with no knowledge or respect of the land has over the decades created canals which have destroyed our lands, channelling salt and changing the fundamental landscape of our land.
