Chau Bunh Khuon, a 30-year-old Khmer man living in the southern province of An Giang, is a self-taught information technology expert who has made many innovations.

This high-school graduate’s most famous creation is probably CTK a Khmer language font, considered the most popular in Viet Nam. It is used by, among others, the Radio Voice of Viet Nam’s Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta office and Can Tho Newspaper.

Son Song Son, member of the Party Central Committee and vice director of the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region, met with 350 dignitaries, monks and nuns from 141 Therevada Khmer Buddhist pagodas in southern Tra Vinh Province on Oct. 22.

Thach Hel, Permanent Vice Secretary of Tra Vinh Party Committee, and Most Venerable Thach Sock Xane, Vice Chairman of the Solidarity Association of Patriotic Monks and Nuns in Tra Vinh Province were present at the meeting.

(STRASBOURG) - The European Union must reassess its cooperation with Vietnam and insist that Hanoi end its "systematic violation of democracy and human rights," the European parliament said Wednesday.

"Human rights dialogue between the European Union and Vietnam must lead to tangible improvements in Vietnam," the EU parliamentarians said in a text adopted overwhelmingly by 479 votes to 21.

The parliamentarians adopted a text, by 479 votes to 21, saying human rights dialogue between the EU and Vietnam must lead to tangible improvements in Vietnam.

They called on the European Commission, the EU's executive arm, to reassess cooperation policy with Vietnam, based on respect for democratic principles and fundamental rights.
